Yes, the 8th floor was closed for about a week. The 7th floor was closed for a couple of days. The 6th floor was opened by the afternoon of the day after. Most of the other floors were unaffected by the quake in any major way.

I stand by my brief explanation of discarding materials by librarians. If you care to take a Collection Development class, you will learn a lot more about it. SJSU has an excellent library school and many students are distance learners online. Cheers!
