@dfwjac Wow. Let it rest. It's a clip from a musical from almost 15 years ago that someone posted because they happened to like the song and/or video. They weren't asking or looking for a pseudo-historian or musical theater wannabe to tear it apart. They just shared it because they thought other people might want to see it and/or hear it. Sheesh. Write a newspaper article if you want to be a critic. I so tired of you trolls and your ilk.
The musical was so execrably inaccurate it's ridiculous. And the national tour was dreck - looked like a high school production, complete with model boat being drug across black plastic trashbags that drew laughter. The Forbidden Broadway spoof captured the waste of an evening perfectly. Aside from a couple of lovely songs, it was incredibly disappointing as a piece of theatre.
One of the best things I saw on B'way over the years. It did a great job of telling a different story. There is an interesting history of how the story evolved throughout the rehearsal process. Ask Judy Kaye...
I saw this in 1999 on Broadway after I moved to NYC. It was a magnificent spectacle to behold. The sets were minimalist and yet evocative of time at sea. I'm still hooked to music to this day. Godspeed Titanic!
I sing with the Inspiration Choir and we are singing this at Leeds Town hall this spring whooppeeeeee
