In Bikram's Yoga, Standing Head to Knee aims to straighten your legs to a 90 degree L-shape from the side, while strengthening the thighs, hips and knees.
Concentrate on the standing leg knee first. Focus on keeping the knee pushed back and thigh muscle contracted. Bikram calls this 'lock the knee'. You must hold this continuously, otherwise the posture is over.
Once you've achieved locking both legs, bend your elbows down below the calf muscles, then suck your stomach in, and round the spine to touch your forehead on your knee.
Practicing in the heat with a mirror, and a certified instructor at the house of fire, is highly recommended.
Is this supposed to be an ideal moksha yoga body?
