Wow! What an awesome operating system! Arch Linux is an independently developed, i686- and x86_64-optimised Linux distribution targeted at competent Linux users. It is a rolling-release distribution that is tailored to the end-users needs. You install and configure what you want, you make it as fast or as bloated as you desire! You are in total control of your computer. Arch is an excellent learning tool if you wish to gain a better understanding of how Linux works.

  • @ipodpunker I am no longer using any components of XFCE. I reinstalled Arch Linux and I am using COMPIZ as a standalone window manager with openbox when I wish to shut off desktop effects. I am using Avant as my panel with the cardapio menu obtainable from the AUR.

  • @LinuxSpatry i think you are using XFCE desktop environment thats what it looks like ... umm yeah im using XFCE now and loving it alot i'm gonna make a video of my debian / ubuntu XFCE desktop i love it alot better than Gnome 3 and unity i know E17 been using it for many years man i'm a linux expert even though i dont use ARCH lol i do use slackware and redhat or fedora or centos but yeah i use opensuse before and solaris so i know i was just wondering dude thanks for the feedback

  • @SlaptMan Arch uses iptables

  • @TheAmazingAtheos Make sure you check your downloaded image against the MD5Sum... You may have to download it again...

  • @ipodpunker Arch does not use RPM or DEB but between their respositories and the AUR they have just about every application under the sun.... I have been able to find almost everything.. I am willing to bet they have yahoo messenger, though I do not use it.

  • @ipodpunker You can use E17 as a desktop... it is very easy to install. I am using compiz as a standalone Window manager... it is not a desktop environment.
