@hornet1178 Problem is, the "powers-that-be" (IPMSOC) won't make me feel welcomed there. They think they have authority who lives and who dies. Once you meet those "winners", you'll know where I stand. I remember there was a vendor there (in La Palma) who assumed who could do a good job on the things he sold, and who couldn't. From what I gather, this "winner" was just a disillusioned modeller turned kit expert. And if he say's the word "kit" less that 30 times during the meet, its a slow night.

@hornet1178 OK, I finally figured it out. I visited a socialogist major, and a psychologist, and here's the deal; there's a shortage of mental health facilities in Orange County, Ca, and I was too intelligent for that group. There's people there who can't even read Roman Numerals. We both know the square root of 144 is 12. You ask those people (IPMSOC) the same question, they'll tell you it's a carrot. And according to them, I have issues?

@hornet1178 I remember I visited a hobby shop the chapter recommended on their monthly newsletter. When I showed the store owner where I got the information regarding his store, he became very uneasy, and acted like he'd been threatened.

@hornet1178 I left out of dissappointment. I remember I used to arrive at those monthly meets 2-3 hrs early before anyone else, because I lived 30-40 miles away, only to be given the ice-cold shoulder by all those snobby perfectionists. When I put my 2 cents on there online guestbook, regarding how I felt, they were sooo offended, they instantainiously deleted my model gallery, and my name from every entity in their mainframe, and at the same time, loaded a revised group photo of themselves.

@DanBell47 Well that indeed unfortunate. All I can really speak for is the contest at the National level since thats where I judge. It's to bad that a few bad apples can spoil the whole barrel for you.But I can understand where your comming from.

@hornet1178 The local chapter I was in was like a mafia.

@DanBell47 Well I coulnd't disagree more. I've been a judge for 12 years and I have no friends in the contest room. Iahve heard all this before and there is nothing farther from the truth. Some join us and help out to judge, we can always use the help!

I used to be and AVID member of IPMS/USA and IPMS Orange County, California. Thats until I realized how your tastes and interests are accepted, as well as your modelling skills are judged, all depends on who you know, and who your swapping spouses with.
