I found this whilst digging for earthworms near Toa Payoh, Singapore, and put it in my worm composting box. This is the second time it has escaped and gone walkabout. Good thing i didn't accidentally step on it, but glad to see it is still alive after a few months. Or it could possibly be a different individual - perhaps it is multiplying in my vermicomposting box? These snakes reproduce via parthenogenesis without the need for mating - all are female. Although it is called a blind snake, it is not blind as you can see, it moves towards the dark shadow under my hand. Having formerly kept Python reticulatus i can now say i have kept both the longest and the shortest snake species in the world as pets. This individual looks thinner than most, i wonder if it is a new species? After filming the snake was returned to the compost box.
