  • all the baits you buy come single hooks on the lures you buy as opposed to a treble hooks so you don't hurt the fish and get an easier release trout are sensitive I had one die on me because I over fought the fish even with a single hook the fish might die bass and cats are more hardy trout are the least hardy fish.

    peace, KMB

  • @kissmabass The Rapala's you buy come with treble hooks, you would need to swap out the hooks manually. Thanks for the comment.

  • @bowriverblog ok thanks could I use this method on smallmouth and sunfish of swiching treble to single and should the hooks be barbless

  • @kissmabass You sure can and yes you can use barbless hooks. In Alberta where I live the province is completely barbless, we can use treble hooks but they must be barbless. Barbless hooks have been proven to reduce fish mortality in some states and Canadian provinces. Thanks for the comment.

  • @PBSTARJ Thanks, the Alberta government makes the laws that govern our fisheries so that's where the concerns should be directed. I abide by the law as should all anglers. Thanks for the comment PBSTARJ. Have a great fall fishing season.

  • @bowriverblog i totally agree writing a letter to the alberta government. Im not frowning upon you but replacing the three trebles with 3 single hooks is much nicer on the fishes mouth then a treble. 3 hooks instead of 9 is always nicer!

    Great video though, awesome fish!

  • You should write to the local fish and wildlife office if you want to complain about treble hooks on the Bow River. Three hook treble hooks are legal all over the province, so dont complain to me, complain to the Alberta Government.

    Thanks,

  • swap the 3hook jigs out for single hooks you guys are killing and damaging the true trophy trout.. respect the might blue ribbon fly fishing bow river
