Viento (James Fenton, Inglaterra)

Memoria del Festival Internacional de Poesía de Medellín. El poeta británico James Fenton participó, en el 2005, en la décima quinta versión del Festival, leyendo un bello texto sobre el viento que atraviesa los siglos, doblando los setos con fuego, sangre y lágrimas, y se pregunta cómo llegó el mango de la espada tan lejos del herrero. Subtitulado en castellano.
James Fenton Lincoln, Inglaterra, 1949. Poeta, profesor universitario, crítico de teatro, periodista, corresponsal de guerra en Camboya y Vietnam. También ha residido y cubierto eventos en Filipinas, Sur de Corea e Indochina. Realizó estudios de Filosofía y de Sicología. Sucedió al premio Nobel Seamus Heaney como profesor de Poesía en la Universidad de Oxford. fue nombrado miembro de The Royal Society of Literature en 1983. Su poesía ha sido recogida en dos volúmenes: Children in Exile, 1968-1984; y Out of Danger, 1994. All the Wrong Places: Adrift in the Politics of the Pacific Rim, 1988, es otra de sus obras.

James Fenton is one of the most gifted contemporary poets, at least in the English language. He understands that language must sing, if it is to be true poetry. Where, by the way, was this festival?
