The Shelter Island Historical Society, located on Shelter Island at the eastern tip of Long Island, maintains Havens House, or Heastsease, as it was known. Originally (1743) the home of James Havens, Heartsease was the site of a farm and early colonial store. It remained in the Havens family until 1925. It is now open to visitors.
Many early Havens family residents are buried in the cemetery on Shelter Island.
This is so great! It was like taking the trip with you! I'm going to watch it several times, there was so much information density.
THANKS,
Chita
