Judy Reyes played this part beautifully, apparently the actor who played Laverne started crying when she was on the bed because of Judy's performance.

If you remember the Episode when Ben is following Dr. Cox around after he died, and it was just his imagination, this is the same, and the woman was gone once Carla finished saying good-bye. It was Laverne following Carla around.

Throughout this entire episode Carla is having a break down and is imagining Laverne, similar to Dr. Cox when Ben died. The person who told Carla that she could do it was Carla's own vision of Laverne.

It still amazes me that the writers dare to put small puns like "Man, I hope he's real or you're gonna be pissed" yet the scene doesn't lose any of its emotion. Not a single flaw in this show. Just amazing.

Incredibly emotionally powerful stuff. I feel the same sadness when I think about Scrubs being cancelled. My favorite show ever.
