Drug testing for welfare recipients

Rep. Peter Palumbo wants welfare recipients to be tested for drugs -- because some, he says, use the taxpayer dollars to get high. Opponents say it would be unconstitutional.

.....I ment a guy in Flint...we went to a crack dealer...he took my card read the number called to check the amount, took the card for his food, result? 200.00 in crack, happens everyday. I never did? it again n wont!! do half of you guys even think? you know how easy it is to get by a drug test chances are half the people watching this have done it at least once. dont get me wrong i 100% agree with it but people still going to be getting around the system facts of it.

I think in order for this to work they should use a "3 strikes your out" method. Not just cut them off without any assistance or programs to help drug addicts. I say fix the woman who use assistance to keep the checks coming in. Who have kids to stay on assistance, but I guess fixing them would be a cruel form of nature to the human kind. I hate muchers just as the next. Society is not fair and our government has allowed this to go on for years. The enablers, go figure.

Well here goes more chaos in the Untied States. I am for drug testing but in the same breath I am against it. Pros-I am sick of my tax money going to support drug addics and I want to know how much more I will save on my weekly checsk. Cons-how can we control society now-a-days? This has been going on for years and all of a sudden they do something about it? Image a bunch of tweeking individuals being taken off assistance? More car jacking, robbing/murders. It ain't gonna get better.

@pagood38 we are not talking about people who are poor. there are many poor people who work and get drug tested. we are talking about people who take money for doing nothing. if they are taking drugs, they can't get a job. if someone is getting money from hard working people, money for doing nothing, they have no right to complain about drug testing. they should be grateful they are getting money for doing nothing.
