This is way better than I thought it was going to be when I clicked on it. Quite nice!

@1973nitram Oh.....sadly, how right you are.
Of several I've heard, this interpretation comes closet to being anything at all - but, for me, that still put's it a millions miles away from Sill.
These covers, every one of them, just end up being reminders of just how accomplished and unique Sill really was. It's almost cruel...
But it is so great that Sill has a place in the consciousness of some young artists.
All this time after, with the World as it is? That's just plain amazing.

still not as good as the original

This is so good! ;G

bothersome mannerist singing. abuse, no respect

Is this the same girl who did the Leonard Cohen song?

@taildragger51 That's a brilliant idea. Youre right, she has the ideal voice. Don't suppose she ever will though. I still think the best version is the original, Judee Sill. You can hear the emotion.

I'm amazed that Sarah McLachlan hasn't covered this song.
She has the perfect voice for it.

The original version has haunted me for decades. Judee sang it almost as a righteous cry for help for the angels to protect her. "bandit and a heartbreaker" must refer to her boyfriend who got her involved in drugs, robbery & vice. Judy Tzuke also did a nice version in the 70s but i admire Frida for shining the light on this very moving song.

wow, this is an amazing cover!
