The country offers a stable workforce, good industrial relations and competitive labour costs. In addition, a good transport infrastructure and modern telecommunication system lend to the attractiveness of doing business in the country. Furthermore, the country enjoys a reputation as the least corrupt country in Africa with high transparency and a well-developed legal system.
Minerals, especially diamonds, have been the mainstay of the country's economy since independence from the British in 1966. The country's high rate of economic growth is due largely to this mining sector, which accounts for 90% of national foreign exchange earnings, and at nearly 40%, provides the single largest source of GDP as well as government revenues.
Despite continued challenges such as HIV/AIDS, small market size and landlocked location, Botswana, already one of Africa's wealthiest nations with a thriving economy based on diamond mining and tourism, remains one of the best investment opportunities in the developing world

I really hope that other African countries will follow Botswana's footsteps and learn from them. It's time to stop blaming the White man for everything and take responsibility for our own problems. No one is going to do it for us. The world does not want excuses, it wants results. As long as we keep on blaming Europeans for our problems, we will stay where we are for centuries to come. Crimes are kinda high in Botswana, however compared to most African nations, it does remain low. Good job to Botswana for fighting corruption! Now let's hope Botswana can increase income equality, and help fight against diseases that are major in this country.

@shussey100 I am English and I know about the triumphs of Africa and Botswana certainly seems to be one of them. Once inequality within society begins to be addressed along with diversification of its economy away from mining and the HIV/AIDS rate brought under control then I can clearly see that Botswana will become a shining jewel in Africa's crown. I would love to visit. =)
