  • AWESOME commercial

  • Yes, eating meat can cause impotence and it doesn't take a scientific study to prove it. Impotence can be linked to a lack of blood flow to a man's sexual organs. Blood is absolutely necessary in order for a man to sustain an erection. However, when human beings consume meat in excess, they are exposed to saturated fats. These saturated fats not only cause high cholesterol and heart attacks, but also a decrease in energy and blood flow. Therefore, eating meat = lack of blood = no play time!

  • @BlissfulMelancholy Just an aside head's up - Deer remain a problem because we are only allowed to bag bucks in most of America. Humans are capable of removing all deer east of the Mississippi as well as a few hundred miles west of it if we were not constrained by hunting laws.

I, for one, would consider that a good thing. I hate @%^#$ing deer.

  • Hmmm. No more sex, or no more bacon. Hmm.

    Bacon wins!

  • @BlissfulMelancholy The vast majority of the time a human wanders into the woods, or out onto the ice, etc. with a gun or a club, you can bet their main concern is not ecological sustainability but "Meat!" or "Let's go out and kill something!".

I agree that humans should be smarter and stop procreating. I'm doing my part there.

As for animals, if it were determined, without appeal to human self interest, that populations needed reduction, chemical sterilization would be better than murder.

  • @kimberlily1983 The deer population is becoming ridiculous, and no matter how many hunters go out and kill them during hunting season, it remains a problem; they're invading human territory, and getting themselves killed on roads and highways everyday (there's even a crazy video of a deer beating the tar out of a border collie on a public street, lol, but that's besides the point). It's the same with bears and pumas. For humanity, population control is something we SUCK at.

  • @kimberlily1983 Humans can hardly manage their own population let alone that of animals. People in Japan are having less babies every year, but their life expectancy is up, leading the people of Japan to worry that there will be a huge surplus of senior citizens with no one to care for them. In the United States, we have more elderly people than ever, and we're running our Social Security savings dry.

  • @BlissfulMelancholy Haha, I'm hardly an idealist, and I'm not making any kind of prescription for how other animals should or shouldn't act. I'm talking about how humans should act.

You seem to be under the impression that people and animals will become immortal if we're all vegan. Don't worry, despite our better health, we'll still die eventually, and the cycle of life will continue on. :)

  • @kimberlily1983

I think in order for your vision to come to fruition all animals would need to be as intelligent as us, and capable of making the independent decision to withhold from breeding, otherwise, it simply won't work.

  • @kimberlily1983

True but all those cases are isolated, and do not apply to an entire species as a whole. Your idealism is admirable, but overreaching a bit, I think. If one species stopped eating another in favor of veggies, the result would be imbalance. There must be death in order for life to continue, and "torture" is a very undefined term; Just ask any expert on the United States Constitution.

  • @BlissfulMelancholy Actually, plenty of species co-operate with one another, and there are plenty of instances of female animals taking care of offspring that is not their own and of another species! Usually we increase our chances of survival by co-operating with one another, as opposed to creating conflict.

In any case, I think the consequences of recognizing a more advanced morality, where we do not arbitrarily justify our torturing of other species, will be positive for all involved. :)

  • @kimberlily1983 That distance has allowed all creatures to evolve and survive since life began. Changing all that will be much more complicated than simply becoming a vegetarian; there will be consequences, domestic, and environmental, and to ignore the possible consequences is naive.
