kenny Loggins on October 2nd, 2008 at the Mendel Center in Benton Harbor Michigan singing The Real Thing. WOW! His story behind writing this song was really touching.. makes you really think about what is real and what is imitation in your life.
I have never been married but my parents were divorced. Maybe that is why I never reproduced. I didn't want to cause any pain. I am 49 and never been married or had any kids. I wish I did. Just didn't have the faith, I guess. God bless you.
This song is so beautiful! I've been a victim of divorce on several occasions with several parents and stepparents. I understand their point of view better now but at the beginning it was difficult.
The first time I gave the lyrics of this song my undivided attention, I began crying uncontrollably after the second verse. Memories of my parents' divorce nearly twelve years before came back clearly to me.
If you feel like having a good cry, but can't seem to do it, take a listen to this song. If it doesn't do the trick, check your pulse.
Thanks for posting this - my sister called me last night on her way home from this concert ... now I have a better idea of what she was so excited about!
I was at this concert! What a great voice he has! This and "Forever" were my faves. Thank you for sharing.

It was similar for me because I heard it only a month after my parents decided to get a divorce.

It's a tribute to Loggins who can, after all these years sing the song as it was recorded, bravo!
