The ban on Gay blood donation is tackled on the NBC television show, Harry's Law. Cassie, a lawyer on the show is contacted by a friend who wants to help his brother after a car accident. He is gay, but federal law prohibits him from donating.

A report from the Williams Institute for Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law finds that about 219,000 more pints of blood could be available each year if the FDA lifted the ban.

The law has been in place since 1977.

Such a STRONG and poignant episode and message. So glad this was dealt with, just sad that not many people know about this problem.

Absolutely AMAZING and wonderful moment in American television history. They say art imitates life....it's time Life starts to imitate Art.
