Apologies for the quality and camerawork on this clip, I was suffering from flu and thought my dad might have a heart attack or something so I wasn't really with it. This was for the local Cheshire Home fund in Marske by the sea, Cleveland (UK) not Cleveland Ohio by the way. I think he was first in the sea when the horn went off, but a couple of other people, mainly brave teenagers went in ahead of the horn and got it out the way. There were about 250 people there to watch at one point and there seemed to be around 30-50 dippers. My personal highlight of the morning was when two volunteers were asked to remove a crucifix on top of the bonfire by someone who was offended by the symbol. Personally I am an atheist-buddhist and couldn't imagine such a ridiculous offence - as a) it was going to be burned b) if you want your own symbol on the bonfire bring it and stick it on c) what about your own tolerance. Anyway, it's preserved in its own right on the video here! This video mainly features my dad, aged 65 looking a bit worried beforehand and quite elated afterwards.
