The New I-195 Eastbound (Providence RI)

This is a video of a drive along the New Eastbound I-195 (IWAY) in downtown Providence RI on one of the first days it was open to traffic (December 8, 2008). The video starts south of the Providence Place Mall on I-95, goes past the now-closed old Exit 20 on the left, then onto the new Exit 20, across the new IWAY bridge and merging onto the existing I-195 at the India Point Park Bridge.

It is being demolished. Once they complete the new I-195 WB -> I-95 NB ramp, they will close and demolish the old I-195 WB and reconnect the city street grid where the highway was and open up several acres of downtown land. Plus the old highway & bridges were falling apart.

So waht happend to the old I-195 east? What did they turn that into? More needed land for the city? I miss Old Providence. Alot has changed since I left there in 1985. Thanks for the vid.
