I think the Tengen version of Tetris is better than the Nintendo version. It has the same music as the arcade version and the graphics are similar to the arcade vesion.

Happy 25th anniversary Tengen Tetris!

Me too, much more colorful and bright. Music isn't quite up to par but that can be overlooked, can always crank something else up.

Personally, I found the Tengen version to be superior in pretty much every way. I played both versions as a child (my father bought the bootlegged version for my mother as a birthday present, since she loved Tetris so much); the Tengen version had better controls, better visuals, and equal to better music.
Oh, it also had co-op. In 1987.
I repeat: co-op mode in *1987*.
Nintendo should've just bought the rights to it instead of suing them.

@Silverknight16 but back in the day, Nintendo was all about controlling every aspect of their intellectual properties. Since they physically bought the rights to "Tetris" existing on the NES, they were well within their legal right to sue them and get it taken off the shelves.
Co-op tetris isn't really a selling point; there were other co-op games back then anyway.
I grew up with the Nintendo version, and I'm just more accustomed to how it plays... I LOVE its atmosphere, too.
