@angskeet you're welcome! "mia" (wife) means sexual partner and "Prrya" (wife) means a legal wife. I'm not Thai, so I could have messed that up. Very similar to Mexican culture...my mom says that my sister's are "married" b/c they live with their boyfriends but they're not married.

@natygoly In Thai culture if you sleep with someone you're considered husband and wife. There's a term for "wife" and "husband" (I believe) that tells you if they're legally married or just sexual partners. That's why when Kawee finds out that she's pregnant and Tom bursts in he tells Tom that Narin is his "wife" but uses the term that means that they've had sex and that's why Narin's horrified and says "Khun Kawee!"
