6229 Duchess Of Hamilton In Streamlined Casing

The only loco of its kind in Streamlined form Seen here at Bordesley Junction on its way up to the NRM.
no boiler repairs are planned until 2011 at the earliest, it will be at the NRM until around march next year.

she was still in the Great Hall at NRM at the begining of October, she has however been given an LMS 'streamlined' coach......though that wasnt so obvious.

she is a stunning machine! she looks great.

but then again so does Mallard. a little worse for wear but still Stunning none the less.

@bhyllsman that was Staniers point of view, he hated the streamlining, he felt that the advantages at a higher speed did not outweigh the disadvantages when it came to maintainence. who actually got the streamlining done in the first place is unknown.

@tom201090 I read that the new Director at the NRM is looking at bringing her back into steam, and having a rake BR Mk 2s painted to match. Now that would be a sight.

Duchess of Hamilton is my favourite steam engine of all time, she and other members of her class are actually faster than the diesel engine that run services nowadays all the best reason to bring back steam long live steam!!!!!
