Bit of trivia - The original idea here was that Vic was supposed to shoot and kill Shane.

Breaks my heart when people talk about Shane in such simple terms. Oh well.

@Scipio2021 If he shot Shane he would have gone down right with him when IAD oppened up an investigation into the shooting. That is the reason why he did not shoot Gilroy in season one, when Gilroy barks "if your so innocent why don't you shoot me", Vic know better as crooked as he was he saw what was two or three steps in front of him, not Shane though.
