It is always surprising how small a part of life
is taken up by meaningful moments.
Most of them, they are over before they start,
although they cast a light on the future
and make the person who originated them unforgettable.

  • he has beautiful hands...

  • But today, interracial relationships and marriages are no longer a crime. And that's a good thing to know. Just imagine this couple's just working as lecturer and perhaps, manager in a store - met in a party and fell in love, despite their different stances on certain matters. They'd make it. But love doesn't necessarily have to be a happy ending or even has marriage. True, pure love separates them, knowing it's what best for them. At the time, status, social rank and religion were important.

  • At first I didn't understand why Anna suddenly talked about how science can unravel beautiful thing such as music, but then I realise the metaphore - about her and the King, why they can't be together. It's a rhetoric question, and for those who understand how women even had lower social status in the time, 18th century, you'd know why.

  • @AnnaAndTheKingFan @AnnaAndTheKingFan yes you have reason, for this movie is very beautiful in part because is Jodie Foster and for me is the best actress but too because the history is very real because don't always the love have a happy end , each scene for express exactly the reactions of the person when is in love and the pain when one person lost the love , just the peson who feel the love sometime in your life can undestand the scential of this history

  • To me, they are the most tragic couple of them all...

  • I completely agree with that. She most definitely looks like she literally cannot breathe when he kisses her hand. ahhhh. I love this movie.

  • @Masqueradia Great explanation. I always thought it was interesting as well, that both boys, Louis and Prince C. saw something between Anna and the King. Kinds are so perspective like that.

  • The contrast between Tuptim & Blatt, and Anna & the King is striking. The latter acted on their love and it cost them each other and their lives. And the fomer didn't, got to live, but had to live apart. Neither story had a happy ending, I think it went with the theme that everything in Siam had it's time. I love this scene so much. When he kisses her hand, she literally looks like she can't breathe. Ah. So honest and true. Better in this context than I love you, ever could have been.

  • I just love this movie. Even though they don't kiss, their eye contact and the way they talk to one another is even more romantic than a kissing scene. I love it when he asked Anna to dance and everyone was so shocked by the notion, but that became their intimate thing, which made it even more special. My favorite movie of all time.

  • ¡Hermoso amor basado en el respeto, la admiración, la solidaridad, la unión a pesar del tiempo y la distancia!
