@MERVILLE3 Yup, and that is the difference between "sport" figting and combat. In sports you can trade shots to earn points without much threat to you, except maybe losing the match. In combat you can't trade shots because even one may be enough to disable or kill you. Real fights don't last more than a few second with weapons.

@megaman349 That may apply well to empty hand or even stick fighting but when it comes to the kalis/blade, it is a different matter. It's all about timing and deception. There's very, very little of the taking a shot to get 3 back in blade fighting for the obvious reasons. Even when comes to stick fighting, the real stick is the kammagong or bahi not rattan. Kammagong will break your arm or even kill you, make no mistake.

One of the few real Grandmasters!

@bratkotenka I think its more respect and admiration slighting his hand rather than being outclassed or defeated. i don't care who you are master or not when in the later years you just cant move or react as if you were 25 again thats just not the case. if the younger fighter put more pressure and actually tried with true fighting intent he would most likely come out on top and that's just basic biological fact. respect and honor are more important than taking down an old respected master.

@mrkitanai1 he is a monster!

@bratkotenka Yes, and that "other guy" is Topher Ricketts - considered to be very good escrimador himself. But he is simply outclassed by Illustrisimo. Imagine how fast and powerful Tatang must've been when he was in his 20's and 30's!! And Tatang looks to be quite tall for a Filipino - especially during his generation. He seems to have long arms and legs - I'm guessing he was at least 5'10"??

That hand and face is gone! Tatang defintely is one to be feared

der alte ist ja echt klasse, aber alles was er da macht, klappt nur, weil der maskenmann keine ahnung von parierfähigen schlägen hat. axel, ucc hamburg
It is simply amazing how well Tatang moves in this video, even though he is in his later years. I can only imagine how fast and elusive he was when he was in his 20's and 30's. Replace that baston with a barong or a bolo, and you can easily see how skillful and deadly this man was. Can you imagine having to face a young Illustrisimo in a bladed encounter? He is simply the best.

the armor and the gloves which are protective gears are alien to Tatang. he asked "ba't sila gumagamit niyan?..." (why are they using that?...") he! he! he! most of the hits taken by the opponent are to the hands, i saw some strikes landing on the cheek, top of the head, and side of the trunk. Tatang received none and the other guy can not be counted as unskilled in Arnis, he is just outclassed by the master.
