Clip taken from a couple of assesment flights from about ten flights, non UK PG pilot wishing to start flying with the club. Issues noted (not all on video), incorrect hooking in of risers/routing of speed bar connections & brake lines/failure to check/re-check. One brake line incorrectly routed through pulley some time in the past (increases friction/risk of jaming! Need to ALWAYS check BEFORE bringing a wing up of the ground (top landing pilots etc.) Energy managment etc: avoid impacts/stalls/down wind landings etc. 'Clearing turns' (look around). The list is exactly what I note in most re-training (UK) pilots i.e. basic errors and/or lack of training in the fundementals of safe aviation. Fortunatly for him this pilot shows a strong ability to very quickly improve/correct, despite english not being his native tongue (and my french is non-existent!)
Ye looked like Mathieu had the brakes on a little after launch hence he touched down again, alright on that launch site with a large flat area to land on, brakes off on launch get the speed up before you start any turning or manouvre.Nice site gd tips Murray.

It is more the 'running' i.e. the pilot being FORWARD of the CoP of the wing.. having brakes on all the way through the launch does not help. With his wing I am flying long before the 'edge' of the top slope and so have no 'surge & dive' as the CoP is alread AHEAD of my mass (weight AND drag)

Hi Mathieu. No doubt soon you have the extra re-training 'polish' still needed to correct the procedure stuff (pre-flight checks) and will also be 'nailing' ALL your launches and landings! Just remember the stuff we have already covered. PS Don't forget to sort out UK 3rd party insurance for flying club sites.
