this is the great band inspired by one of the finest tourist attractions in the united states: the wall drug experience. live it, love it. our scorehero page for both rock band 1 and 2:

my gamertag on xbox live is Tizzzzz and, as evidenced by the video, jane plays under the tag Apocaphish. we are not "elite" players, we are just playing and recording for fun. being awesome is just icing.

i use the dazzle dvd recorder with virtualdub 1.8.3 for capturing and converting these videos. compression settings are audio 128kbs mpeg3, video xvid with a target quantizer of 4.5.

  • after buying the Dazzle and accessories, roughly how much did you spend?

  • the dazzle cost me 41 dollars i think and, since i want to play on the tv signal while i record instead of the computer monitor, i also invested in two y-connectors [already had one] to split the av cable signal from the tv to go to both my 360 and the dazzle, which set me back about 5 each. i already had a double-ended av cable in my possession too, but i don't see them costing above 5-10 if you need one. so about 55-60 dollars is probably the most you would be looking at for this setup.

  • so would I be able to record my gameplay for any game? Cause I have a bunch of Halo 3 clips that I want to put into a montage on my computer.

  • yeah, you can record any console footage with this setup that uses the red/yellow/white av cable. or anyTHING, really, so vhs movies from a vcr [which is what the dazzle is made for apparently] and live television [there's an s-video port on the dazzle too] as well. you do some initial tweaking to figure out the best settings and it will require a decent bit of free space to get good quality, but yeah, you can record anything pretty much.

  • still seems pretty complicated to me. Do you know of any good capture cards to buy or where to buy them? I've already tried Circuit City and Best Buy and they have know idea what I'm talking about. I'm going to try Gamestop tomorrow.

  • the only one i've tried is the dazzle, which i bought at amazon instead of a retail store. i've heard good things about the gamebridge but it is both expensive and, apparently, not very easy to get anymore. it's really not that complicated though, this guy does a good job of explaining the capturing process:
