Ok, the background story to the clip! A year or two before this was filmed I was singing at a gig, organised by Cliff Jull, in Toowoomba.
Sometimes during a gig I randomly feel the urge to 'match make' people. So, 'as you do', I began pestering a young 'couple' (Gavin and Lucy) and asked them up on stage so that I could see if they were suited to each other. The banter back and forth went on for awhile! I couldn't work out why everyone was laughing so hard. Anyway, Cliff comes up to the side of the stage and says 'Pete, they are brother and sister!!'. I quickly changed the topic. The audience thought it was all hilarious and had known all along!
On the night this clip was filmed I noticed Gavin in the audience. I asked him to join us on stage. I learnt he'd just gotten married. Turned out his new wife Sharlene was there too. I invited her to join us on stage as well.
As they were leaving the stage you'll notice that I decided to burst into song. I had no idea what I was singing or playing but I do sometimes feel the urge to improvise lol. This night was no exception and as I was about to finish I saw Lucy in the audience too! So kept on singing! Then I thought 'I know, I'll match her up more successfully tonight' and began a bit of a survey to find eligible males in the crowd for her.
I soon chose a guy to come down called Haron. He and I had actually met earlier in the year in Makay!
Anyway, Haron joins us on stage too.
As the song finishes I saw that Lucy and Haron were still holding hands as they sat in their seats! I thought 'Awesome, my match making skills are brilliant!'. But it turns out they were already dating! Which the whole crowd already knew!
Toowoomba - 2, Peter - 0. Don't worry! I'll be back to even the score!
Cheers! Oh, by the way!!! Lucy and Haron are now married!!! I'd like to think I had something to do with it :)
