  • THE LIVING DEAD

  • I've met these guys. They're not junkies they both work an accountancy firm during the day and like to relax after a long day at work as we all do. Just because they choose to relax slumped against a wall in a public place I don't think they should be judged.

  • It's a shame you were on Argyle St/Trongate where you had the chance to film a busy shopping area. This street has shops, cafes, street entertainment, flower stands and in my experience it is generally a good place to be. But you decided to point your camera at people who are among the most unfortunate members of our society as if they were here for your amusement. Go out and see a bit of the world and then come back and see what a vibrant, tolerant and forward looking city Glasgow is.

  • @MadMac2236 The other thing is-respect to you, as you work and do the right thing etc. But take someone who is addicted to heroin, and they want to get off and get back to work, start a fresh etc. Its almost impossible!!!!! the help is none existent, medical care and support is a joke, society doesn't want to know. And it's impossible to get work once you have a gap and criminal convictions.so long term unemployment, depression, and then back to drugs.Vicious circle.UK drug policy is a joke

  • @MadMac2236 Other thing is, Im not disputing a large ammount of heroin users are scum. Some were scum to start with, but most become this way because of what's happened to them. They ;lityerally have to be scum like to survive. They are criminalised and treated like crap purely because society says cigs, alcohol, coffe...you can do that, but heroin NO. So oncve addicted (which can be for many many reasons, maybe their fault, but maybe not-complex) they basically have to become a criminal

  • @MadMac2236 Hi, I can't see why legalising heroin wouldn't be a good thing. All countries that have done this seem to have had an almost totally posityive outcome. The crime and thieving you describe stops, health improves, less ODs. I mean all the "bad stuff" that people ascociate with heroin (it kills, its dirty, they steal etc etc etc) are ALL caused by it's prohibition. If you banned coffee, you'd have loads of coffee deaths, and stealing for it etc etc. Just don't get the reason for illegal

  • @cockywatchman1976 - True! What makes someone scum is what they do! The phrase 'Actions speak louder than words' is very appropriate in the point I was trying to get across! The 'good' junkies and homeless people don't get noticed because they don't do anything to be noticed for; however, the majority of junkies and homeless in Glasgow are very well known, and it is because of the things they do - usually criminal in nature! Legalising drugs is never the answer and will create fresh problems!

  • @MadMac2236 What if they have mental probelms, have been abused, been through terrible experiences etc etc. Addiction is a complex illness. The only reason they cause trouble is because heroin is illegal-legalise it and issues go away. Not all users are bad people either. You sound like a complete idiot-someone isn';t scum because they are homeless!

  • HAHA that smackhead fell asleep oan that guys bawz !!

  • @tammas2000 - I live by the rule that I treat people the way I wish to be treated. In my experience junkies and quite a lot of homeless people, have been rude, aggressive and usually got caught doing something wrong! That's the only reason I ever dealt with them. I can say with authority that I am not a bully, violent or a meathead, which more than a few bouncers think they need to be. I also have a lot of respect for life in general, but that respect diminishes when you deal with enough lowlifes!
