@anyghost wow thats crazy! i also have, after MANY listens (cuz i write reviews so i have to listen a crapload of times before i feel ready to write about it) I actually have started to enjoy the album. its got a really dark feel, but the songs build, as you say, and it just, idk it really grows on you. I definitely like the album-- is it their best work? ehhhh no... and the album's design (artwork, title, structure, etc) is pretty lame, but its definitely a good album music wise

@Jikel7Bob224 thank you! finally someone with ears. i will say this though, after repeated listens, i find myself liking the songs structures on the album, how they build like classial compositions and have ending climaxes rather than relying on the old chorus/ verse structure so entirely. i like paul's lyrics , which are less cryptic and more straight forward this time, love the echo-y voice sampling, and like always I LOVE carlos' inventive, stuttering, bubbling bass lines lines.

I really like this song. I'm just warming up because I haven't listened the entire record yet.

@anyghost Im an interpol fan but on this album i totally agree, the guitar lines were WEAK. he's done cool and creative stuff in the past so I wont bash Kessler as a guitarist, but he didnt play a single chord, even power chord, the entire album! youre absolutely right about the scale comment, whether it "fits" interpol or not youd be a fool to call his guitar work on this album creative
-
@anyghost You can probably play all the Beatles chords too. They're easy. The key is COMPOSITION. Put notes together on a guitar that people like to listen to you are a good guitarist. Seriously do you really want to sit back a listen to Yngwie Malmsteen?
-
@Bram1610 dude i dunno if you play guitar or not, but i come up with riffs like that constantly just by noodling around in a scale. the only difference between me and him is that he wanted to be in a band bad enough to find the other members. i never really gave a shit about making music. o well. guess i'm just bitter.

@SweetSweetInterpol completely agree... how can they just stand there and do nothing??? why go to a concert???
-
@anyghost kessler is a genius! maybe not the fastest or the best guitar player in the world, but his lines are creative and fit in Interpol. Even better, Kessler thought up a lot of bass lines for Interpol, including The New, one of the most beautiful bass lines ever written! I used to think Daniel wasn't that great, just like you do, but when you hear more about this man, you just gotta love him. Thumbs up if you think Daniel Kessler rocks!

Fue tremendo show.

Did they play any other new songs from the album? Why would you post this one when everyone's already heard it?
