I loved this show in the 80's, but it was very depressing.
I thought it was better than other "cop dramas" because the cops weren't made out to be bullies or toughs, but stressed-out, overworked, and ong-suffering.
It made me NOT want to be a policeman.

The theme in the first series was just the drums, bass, and synth rhythm track without the melody. It sounds great as far as I'm concerned. I especially love the way it changes key towards the end of the closing titles. Just bought the first series on DVD, totally retro 80's heaven! Can't believe I used to dress like that back in the day.

Amazing stuff! I would buy if it was possible to release some sort of box set. You would need a white transit parked outside to house the entire collection.
