David Allan Coe singing Pledging My Love, an old Johnny Ace number, lyrics are in the movie but here they are again.

Intro:
I was in the 1950s, and I was in the, uh, Boy's Industrial School, in
Lancaster, Ohio. My favorite singer at the time was Johnny Ace. One night I
came in from my work assignment, and the guard told me that Johnny Ace was
dead. He'd taken a gun and killed himself, and on the table beside him they
found a tape of a song
that he had written moments before he died. I've
always wanted to sing that song, but I was never able to. I think after all
these years that I'd like to try to sing it for you, Johnny.

Forever my darling,
Our love will be true.
Always and forever,
I'll love only you.
Just promise me darling,
Your love in return.
Make this fire in my soul, dear,
Forever burn.

My heart's at your command, dear,
To keep, love, and to hold.
Making you happy's my desire.
Keeping you is my goal.
I'll forever love you,
The rest of my days.
I'll never part from you,
And your loving ways.

My heart's at your command, dear,
To keep, love, and to hold.
Making you happy's my desire.
Loving you is my goal.
I'll forever love you,
The rest of my days.
I'll never part from you,
And your loving ways.

This is my last letter.
End of song.
My life is so miserable,
I can't go on.

  • if you cant like this song well do us all a favor and go fuck yourself elsewhere rather then on davids site!!Q!!!!!! bye bye u wont be lost

  • forever my darling....

  • Always liked the straight forwardness in his lyrics. This cover is a bit disturbing in the beginning though. He seems to believe that Johnny Ace wrote this song moments before killing himself. This isn't even close to what happened. But...its recorded and in the books now. Check wikipedia for the simple truth of what happened to Johnny Ace!

  • unfinished on borrowed time

  • @gloyahoo I have the CD also, unfortunately DAC version of what happened isn't true, Johnny Ace had not just finished writing this song, it had already been recorded and was #1 for 10 weeks after his death. If he had just finished writing the song Johnny Ace could never recorded it. DAC is a great promoter of himself, although I truly love his music.

  • Beautiful song...Loved it...

  • @beastyclarke sucks for you then.
