Thanks for the idea about thread basting. I just finished about 2/3 of a large twin size quilt in less than 2 hours. I will finish the rest tomorro when my fingers feel better.

OMG I have just watched both and it is so fantastic. I can't wait to get to the hardware shop.
Thank you so much

Sharon, I agree with all the rest of the comments, this is a Great Technique & you should have used two different colors for front/back of your quilt demo (it would have been easier to recognize front from back to sandwich the batting.....but tnx for sharing your method. I just found/bought the 8' boards & am excited to try it on my next quilt!

I have heard nothing but raves about Sharon's videos. They look very helpful, however, I can not understand a word that is said because I'm deaf. Would very much appreciate if they could be captioned. Is this a possibility?? Thanks.

you never said what the reason why you needed the back to be larger. What was the reason?

I've been the taping down the back camp. I like your method! Thank you

I hope you will re-record this using 2 different kinds of fabric. It would be way easier to understand the first time through. Still, it is a great basting method and I now use it on the queen size quilts I do, and got no puckers at all. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. What size board would I use on a king size quilt?
Dear Sharon,This video and part 2 is excellent and has given me great information and help for basting which is always a problem and you explain everything so well. Many thanks indeed, Annie Dunn - a British quilter in sunny Saudi Arabia

Thank you Sharon, I have subscribed to your network. I do have a question with bigger quilts do you still use boards or could one carefully roll each layer and slowly unravel it to baste? the boards would very long indeed for queen and king. It all makes such sense though and especially not having to start basting in the middle etc. which I have always been told to do and find it quite tricky at time. Thank you Sharon, your work is fantastic!! Annie Dunn, Saudi Arabia

For larger quilts you want to use the appropriate legnth. For a king/queen size make sure that it is much wider. 8 - 10 inches is good but use what works best for you. If you are using a thicker batting make sure it is even wider. Play with it a bit and see what works best for you.
