'Jurassic Park 4' Eyeing Summer 2014 Release

Fans of Steven Spielberg's 1993 classic Jurassic Park and its two sequels have been eagerly awaiting a fourth film and it's looking like that may finally be happening!

Last year rumors of Spielberg's interest in bringing a fourth Jurassic Park to the big screen began creeping up, but very little movement on the project was happening other than the possible existence of a once unproduced script. Director Joe Johnson, who helmed the third installment weighed in and promised the fourth film would be a start to a new trilogy and go off in a completely different direction than the original films.

It was revealed last month that Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver had signed on to pen the screenplay for the fourth film and now, according to an interview with Collider, the franchises' producer, Frank Marshall, reveals a summer 2014 release date is being eyed. With the first film set to be rereleased in 3D next summer, it's looking like dinosaurs may once again topple superheroes as the hottest thing on the big screen!

In addition to a possible release date, Marshall also revealed that the film will be a sequel and not a remake or reboot of the original film. He also promises the dinosaurs to look better than ever with how far technology has come in the past ten years since the third film was released. Though he did mention that plans are to also utilize practical effects and prosthetic work as they did in the original trilogy.

We do know Spielberg will not be directing the fourth installment, but it's unclear if Johnson will continue on as director or if they will be bringing in new blood to take over the franchise.
Regardless of who ends up helming the movie, we're excited to see dinosaurs back on the big screen, but what about you?
