Hampshire Guitar Orchestra play "Fields of Gold" -composed by Gordon Sumner (Sting); our version is inspired by the Eva Cassidy version and arranged for flute, acoustic guitar and classical guitar orchestra by Derek Hasted (http://www.classical-guitar-lessons.co.uk)
This track was recorded live at St Agatha's Church Portsmouth (pardon the traffic noise - the Church is metres from a main road - pardon the coughing too, come to think of it)
Let us take you on one of our favourite country walks, through Fields of Gold...
Finchdean & Idsworth, on the Hampshire/Sussex Border, are in a rolling valley with gentle slopes on either side.
The Church of St Hubert, Idsworth, has wall-paintings many hundreds of years old, and a new mural to celebrate the recent millennium.
Come with us on one of Hampshire's loveliest walks to see one of Hampshire's loveliest links to the past.
Hampshire Guitar Orchestra - proud to live in Hampshire!
This arrangement by Derek Hasted features Louise Harbert on Flute, Derek on acoustic guitar, and HAGO playing 4 sizes of classical guitar right down to the massive contra which underpins our sound.
St Agatha's Church is a massive, beautiful church - see pictures of the interior at http://www.hago.org.uk/cgo/
The recording was unattended - a minidisc + mic on the floor - so the quality isn't something to write to your mother about.
Come to one of our concerts - hear us live - it's very different! In fact your mother might very well like it too, and if she won't come, you definitely can write to her about it...
Visit HAGO at http://www.youtube.com/hagoguitar for more vids; visit http://www.hago.org.uk for photos, information, concert dates and an invitation for good guitarists to join us!
Simply magical.
