Earth Liberation Front topples radio station towers

Everett, WA: Two radio station towers were torn down early Friday by the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) in the Lord's Hills valley in Snohomish County, WA. The towers, owned by station KRKO, have been a source of controversy for years. A sign left at the scene claimed responsibility by the ELF.

" Due to the health and environmental risks associated with radio waves emitted from the towers, we applaud this act by the ELF," stated Jason Crawford, a spokesperson for the North American Earth Liberation Front Press Office. "When all legal channels of opposition have been exhausted, concerned citizens have to take action into their own hands to protect life and the planet."

For the past eight years, opponents have waged a legal battle against the towers, arguing that AM radio waves cause adverse health affects including a higher rate of cancer, harm to wildlife, and that the signals have been interfering with home phone and intercom lines.

Last year, the first four towers were erected by KRKO after numerous hearings and appeals. KRKO plans to build two more towers to boost the station's broadcasting power.

" We have to weigh our priorities and the local ecosystem in Everett, along with the local residents, do not need additional sports news radio station towers that come at the expense of reduced property values and harmful radio waves," Crawford continued. "We sincerely hope that people continue to take direct action to stop the threats to human health, wildlife and the planet."

The E.L.F. is an international underground organization that uses direct action in the form of economic sabotage to stop the systematic exploitation and destruction of the planet. Since its inception in North America in 1996, the ELF has inflicted well over $150 million in damages to corporations and governmental agencies that are profiting from the destruction of the Earth.

are you kidding? Anyone that acts like that should be drawn and quartered. How would you like it if some radical assholes came in the middle of the night and for absolutely no reason destroyed equipment that you depend on to be able to turn a profit and pay your employees? Besides, that tower was out in the middle of fucking nowhere not bothering anyone and nobody gives a shit about some stupid fucking birds.

@MannySteinerBIeeky We don't have LAN over power-line, we have a cable modem and the only reason i am near it now is because i have to use the desktop with LAN (Laptop LAN doesn't work....) after the router died

@nessnes64 - you mean Local Area Network LAN?

It shouldn't matter if it's a cable modem, you can use powerline instead of wi-fi. The powerline unit plugs into the router (router = modem as far as home devices are concerned, most people won't have a router that isn't also a modem, except for some wi-fi gateways) in the ethernet port.

You can plug the laptop into the modem directly, or plug a switch into the modem (if it only has 1 port), and then plug the laptop and desktop into the switch.

@nessnes64 - try powerline instead of wi-fi, it might not be suitable for every home cause of the electrical wiring (just depends on the quality and how it's connected up) - they're bridges / switches that plug into wall sockets, and send the data via the electrical cables. You plug one into the router-modem, and the other in the wall for what room you want them in, then plug the other computers / consoles into it.

@nessnes64 - I did a report in wireless class (computing course) about avoiding the health hazards, without making a big deal of how blatantly painful they are. I got a lot of scientific journal pulished papers that supported the health hazards and used them as references.

If you need to use it you can attach an extension cable to a plug-in card or dongle so it's focused away from your body - but that wouldn't stop any harm it does to bees or any other creatures of course.
