She was awesome and I was so thrilled and surprised when the droll Henry Morgan came out and said "well I'm afraid Dick that history is on the lady's side"!
Wow, surprising (and disappointing) that Dick Cavett, who's usually very gracious, insightful and intelligent, would put a guest on the spot like that in such a tacky way. Sounds like Joan was "typical Baez". Cool!
She kicked Dick's ass. Her segment was so engaging that Jackie Robinson got bumped. Henry Morgan came on late and agreed with Baez and even Jackie Robinson sided with her during the couple minutes he was on. She closed with a killer Swing Low Sweet Chariot from the chair. Dick was very schmarmy with her and was basically playin devil's advocate. He called her the female Tiny Tim.
Her debut A&M lp had just come out and she never even referred to it. I'm sure Herb Alpert was pissed about that.
"[william buckley] is a KNOWN (emphasis mine) snake" -- fan letter to Cavett haha I gotta find that episode somehow, lol

PS Baez and Ginsburg were not on the same show.
