Middle Earth = this world - but thousands of years before today, & before the beginning of recorded history. Numenor would probably be somewhere in the Atlantic. It's not possible to be exact, b/c the geography of ME changed several times. Middle Earth in TLOTR is in the West of Middle Earth; in the Silmarillion, ME extends much further West.
