  • Yes Joséphine was an American, unfortunately she had to exile herself to France to be treated like a human being, no racism in France !

  • IS this video current? Its 1920s or sooner. I meant it in a friendly way like my Black friends on the Southside of Chicago who call me Ofey girl or Whitey or Crackers, its not my preferred nickname but they seem to like calling me that. They called each other negro! Or if they get irritated with each other, its 'nigga.' Since when is NEGRO the new 'n' word?

  • You are just completely ignorant and I understand that. You as a white person will never understand. If someone called you a redneck honky you would be offended. Its that simple. Idiot! I guess ignorance is bliss, and it is truely misunderstanding, cause you will never understand.

  • Yes, the word 'niggar' is very bad in the US. It means 'the lowly people but was given to Blacks exclusively. It would be very nice if Blacks quit using it for each other, as that tends to offend me! I've never used it except like now to describe it. Just like I've never used the slang that racists use for Italians, Mexicans, or the Asians. I'll leave that to the 'crackers' in the Southeast of the USA.

  • Hi. I'm Josephine Baker's photodocumentary director. I am wrting from Brazil. I have replieid to "dezdog6" on your talking about racism. Thanks for your participation. Hugs, Liqia.

  • Even if the intention is not to offende, calling someone "Preto" can be considered a fault. In this photodoc, when we traduce "Casamento de Preto" as "Nigger Wedding" the meaning is to show how racist this title is. I know that in the USA "nigger" is a very bad to call black people, african north/south americans, and I want people to understand the racist title that has been given to this show that Baker and the great actor Grande Otelo performed together.

  • I think that this issue is very important and we must talk about it whenever the subject is raised up on discussion. Thank you very much. Liqia Benevides (movie director/editor/research).
