Yes they had two drummers, the grateful dead "curse" is with their keys players. Pigpen, Keith Godchaux, Brent Mydland, and Vince Welnick all died. Mickey, their second drummer, left the band to find his "own" style but I think it was probably because his dad was stealing money from the band and that had to be embarrassing. He came back to play with them for the rest of their years though.
I am a deadhead and this is funny as hell.
