I am a white Canadian woman who has always had a fascination with all things Mongolian. In recent weeks I have found that my German family did not emigrate from Germany, but rather from the Steppes of Russia, Kalmyk and Cossack territory. My family lived along the Volga River, invited by Catherine the Great, to unknowingly create a barrier between the peoples of the Steppe and her Russians. I imagine this is why my heart sings when I sleep in a ger or hear this music. Thank you so much!
@NoMusicNoLife48 Yes your ancestors were called Volga Germans, they got along very well with Kalmyks
