An SVA students gives really good advice on how to get through the very competitive admissions process at SVA. Focus and dedication are key, as is making an on-campus appearance.

  • Never give up, there is nothing that can break the human spirit, don't EVER let anyone tell you you aren't worth it, never back down, look challenge and opposition in the face, and know that you are strong, you are special, show the world you arn't afraid of anything, go out there, with high hopes and no fears, exposed to whatever comes your way, and never back down You arn't proven strong by what you accomplish, but by how much hurt you can take and still stand up, again and again. never forget

  • I'm really committed and stuff but my grades aren't very good, I'm trying but I'm like a straight B and C student. Mainly C.

  • how long does it take to hear back on the decision?

  • i thought it was very easy to get in and i didn't go in person but i think my essay and art work were kick ass

  • @90direwolf around a 3.0 gpa, 1970 SAT in high school.

  • @Dana5760 What was your GPA, and what courses transfer?

  • I have just been accepted with a pretty low GPA, so don't give up if your grades aren't up to par. It's mainly the portfolio and the personal statement that got me in.

  • Im actually going to go to the actual interview at the actual school. I think ill actually get in.

  • lowkey look like tyler the creator

  • I'm going to an interview soon, I feel pretty confident as my grades are for the most part pretty good and my portfolio has been accepted by MICA , SCAD, and various other schools, although I feel like they may be even more difficult. I don't know what they want for scholarships based on your portfolio though, I have a ton of figure drawings and still lifes but it isn't a concentration or anything like the AP portfolio.

  • @oceangust I live in an apartment that is fairly reasonable as far as price goes, and you only have roaches and rats if you are careless with living conditions. However in the actual CITY, like, Skyscrapers at every turn city, then you're right it's mostly freaking 6-foot-long rats.

  • @amyystoberr you've got a VERY good shot, keep on going! :)
