"A CBC colour presentation"...they were the first national TV network in Canada to put out a colour program back on Canada Day of 1966...it was a documentary about the Calgary Stampede.

this is creepy

@thesailormercury1 I suppose you could call it that. Lots of networks around the world have been copying NBC's graphics, especially some Australian channels.

is cbc the nbc of Canada?

I remember a Wayne & Shuster special, where they had the butterfly intro, and a flyswatter came and hit it!

"Uncle" Lloyd Robertson was one of the announcers of these wonderful tags. The funny thing is that I had a huge crush on the guy back in the 1980s - and this now ranks as one of my "were you stoned or what" moments? Admittedly, he was a very attractive young man, but he's 75 now, still working (amazingly), and still married to his first spouse with several grandchildren. Lloyd's certainly not hideous (those glasses suit him), but what young girl wants to look at him now?

Nice logo ... for the VPP!

Not bad, I rather enjoy seeing this CBC logo.
Thanks, friend.

I do my banking at CBC!

Obviously inspired by NBC Peacock.
When NBC was designing a color logo, they actually thought about using the butterfly. When one of the art department people discussed it with his wife, she suggested the peacock because she thought it would have more impact.

I remember reading about that. There was a sidebar in TV Guide about it some years back.
