Dancing and bonding with stallions. Collecting horses at liberty. http://www.hempfling.com.
Music: 'Sapientia' by Vox Nova - http://www.heartsongrecords.com. We thank Vox Nova and HeartSongRecords very much for the friendly cooperation.
This video describes important parts of the horse therapist Klaus Ferdinand Hempflings work. For a better understanding it is helpful to connect this video with his background, added in the following:
Hempfling, with his professional background in communications has shaken up the international horse world. He is working with these powerful, dignified creatures in accordance with nature. The development of the rider's "presence" and an orientation to holistic principles is integral to this work.
Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling is touching equestrians worldwide, with response in fields like natural horsemanship, horse whispering, classical and freestyle dressage, equestrian sports, western riding, endurance, eventing and horse riding in general. He is at the forefront on working and interacting with horses and is known for authentic and effective groundwork according to the horses nature, often proved and documented with stallions (breeding stallions). He considers the horse's psyche (horse psychology) and communicates via body language with these beautiful creatures. His first book, 'Dancing with Horses' met with overwhelming success, especially in pleasure riding and natural riding.
Klaus lived with wild horses in wilderness to observe their animal language and natural horse behaviour. In the beauty of this nature he developed his principals of the first encounter of human and horse.
One of the newest publications is The Path of The Horse by Stormy May http://www.thepathofthehorse.com/Home.html, where Hempfling is portrayed together with Alexander Nevzorov, Mark Rashid, Linda Kohanov and Carolyn Resnick.
One of his specialities is the work with difficult and aggressive horses. Hempfling transforms dangerous, nervous, traumatized horses into cooperative companions. They recognize him as their leader, and become willing partners in groundwork and under saddle.
Also in the baroque dressage he is discussed along with names like Bent Branderup, Richard Hinrichs, Philippe Karl, Anja Beran, Sherry Ackermann, Nuno Oliveira.
A number of articles on his horse work have been published in Horses For Life http://www.horsesforlife.com.
Very important for Hempfling is in general to interact in different fields as long as the activities accord to the horses nature. He is therefore also coaching horse-people from fields like show jumping, baroque and artistic dressage, driving, racing, working equitation, doma vaquera and garotcha.
He has investigated most classical riding theories like Baucher, Gueriniere, Pluvinel, Steinbrecht and Xenophon.
KFH also talks about issues like bullfight with horses (rejoneador de toro, toreros, represented by Pablo Hermoso Mendoza, Leonardo Hernandez and Bohorquez), and thoroughly about barefoot riding, natural hoof care, horse health and horse healing, horse food, stables, keeping and caring.
The KFH riding system Balanced Weight Riding starts with thorough groundwork and lunging at liberty, building up the potential for the exercises of the High School Dressage (Haute Ecole), like shoulder-in, Spanish walk, passage, piaffe, half-pass, flying change, which all origin in the horses natural movements and may be performed at completely loose reins (bareback riding, rein-less and bridle-less riding), in contrast to the main procedure in English dressage (like Helgstrand and Grunsven), and the conventional classical dressage (Cadre Noir, the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Escola Portuguesa de Arte Equestre and the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art).
Genetic changing in breeding, horse characters and horse types are also important topics in KFHs repertoire, which Hempfling employs with all horses You will often find him with baroque breeds like Lusitano horses (Alter Real), Pura Raza Española horses (PRE), Lipizzan horses, Knabstrup and Friesian horses but he is also very attached to the natural horse types like Arabian, Criollo, Welsh, Welsh Cob, Haflinger, Icelandic and Connemara.
His approach is valid for all horses and every horse enthusiast and lover may feel at home in these authentic basics of equitation and equus. In his courses therefore also riders and breeders from totally different styles may learn how to gain the friendship of their horses, often associated with breeds like Quarter, Thoroughbred, Pinto, Appaloosa, Mustang, Irish Cob, Paso Fino, Saddlebred and other horse types.
One may say that he is meanwhile one of the leading names in the issue animal and especially horse welfare and horse passion and love, as well as horses in wildlife, roots in nature and animal communication - one of the most important horse whisperer of the world.

  • @Talkinhorn The policy being taught here is, be honest with yourself, offer your true self to every animal be it horse, dog, cat, wild or domestic creature and most importantly, to other people as well. What Hempfling is teaching is nothing new if we are to be honest here. Respect, love, compassion, empathy, trust, strength are traits we should all aspire for and what most animals recognise and respond too. Hate and cruelty is simply the opposite, while true much more confusing to all.

  • DER Satz von Klaus: "Ich will nichts vom Pferd und bekomme alles" Danke Klaus Hempfling!

  • before I couldn't understand.........I am starting now.......it's like I cannot hide any emotions or personal feeling from my gelding.........somehow it goes across even when one try to hide things (like distress..sadness) very interesting..........I feel like I'm only starting.....

  • Always come here for a lift to my day and inspiration! Thank you so much Klaus and everyone who makes these lovely videos!

  • Cool.. check my horsevideo, maybe youll like it ? :)

  • that is the way how people must to conect with horses.

  • I thought stallions respond to authority, but maby that's the same thing as being me? If I am me I will act like a authority if I AM a authority... So by saying that stallions respond to "you" is true in a way, BUT, it is the authority, nothing else, that the stallion respond to. And mares would also respond to "me" if I AM respectful... Am I wrong? And if I'm not, why doesn't the video clarify that?

  • I really don't understand the thing about "mares respond to respect and stallions respond to you"... Doesn't stallions also respond to respect? And doesn't mares also respond to the inner self of the person? I would really like to know why there is a difference here?!

  • This guy is real good.I agree with the mare, gelding, stallion thing.

  • I have never seen or heard of more... how to say it... "being-himself" trainer than Hempfling is. So sincere, modest and wise - I wish I understood horses at least half as much as he does... :)
