Powered by my home-made 'central-vac' setup. I think this is made by Vac-U-Flo, which makes the Turbocat and Rugrat. Both the T-21 and Vac-U-Flo are made in Canada, but otherwise I can't find anything else that seems related.

I explain everything else in the video.

  • Hey! This is definitely made by HP-Products (Vacuflo). As you mentioned, it is the predecessor to the Turbocat series of powerheads. I've never seen one in person, but it looks like they have the turbine mounted vertically in this model.

I remember seeing this on This Old House back in the 80's. I believe someone posted a clip here on YouTube - Just search "This Old House Central Vacuum".

These were manufactured when things werent all plastic.. I remember most heads had a metal baseplate.

Thanks for the information! The T-21 is such an interesting nozzle. I can't find any information anywhere on it, expect for a few vintage central vac brochures, and even then there's a custom label on it. How did find out about the T-21? Are you in the vacuum business?

  • I used my big ridgid shop vac as a central for basement/shop area clean up. worked pretty good. I would have kept the hose and made it less cumbersome, but I don't have any regular pn size turbine heads.

  • I have one just like it, but it was replaced by a more powerful electric power head

  • @sngencarelli I don't have any documentation on the T21, but I do remember it from a Vacuflo segment on "This Old House" years ago. I also know that HP Products (Vacuflo) is based in Canada.

  • @bagintheback Hey! I'm not in the vacuum business, but I've always been interested in appliances. I've had vacuums from Electrolux (Aerus) and a few Miele's (Flamenco, Aluminum, Blue Moon, Aquarius) over the years. I have a Vacuflo central vac in my home at the moment. I've also installed one at a friends house a few years back. When I was younger, I did something similar to what you've done with the Magic Blue - but I used a Genie Shop vac in the basement.

  • When I was 10 I had a Eureka canister (I forget the model, It was the one that walmart used to sell for like 40 bucks) and I connected a Shop Vac Hang up hose (the real hang up, not the cheap $20 one) to the Eureka's hose and used that like a central vacuum, even though it couldn't even reach half the house.
