The American debate on Universal Health Care continues with Canada's system remaining a primary political football.

Former Canadian Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh (MP for Vancouver South) goes live across American airwaves on NPR to defend and fairly examine Canada's health care system.

they have something like that already in Australia.

  • As the baby boomer population gets older and there are fewer taxpayers, how does Mr. Dosanjh think we are going to pay for a 100% public system? I think we should put a private option on the table. No, not an "American" system, but a reformed Canadian system where we have strong public healthcare but also private choices.

  • only 10 minutes? They should've allotted at least 1/2 hour.

  • Note that he speaks of provincial involvement, the US should involve the states in the health bill as it leads to a more responsive system.

  • this guy seems very honest and direct.

  • hear hear!

  • Dosanjh speaks very well about our healthcare system. He is frank, admits our shortcomings, and presents ideas and hope for the future.

    Great job, Ujjal.
