Lobbyist: Use Drones to Kill Americans on U.S. Soil

Testifying against a bill that would put limits on the use of unmanned drones in Washington state, industry lobbyist Paul Applewhite shocked a House Committee hearing when he said that drones had been used for "indiscriminate killings," while arguing that the technology should be approved for "lethal force" within the United States.

With so many criminals in the US it is only a matter of course that Drones will, and should be used. Initially just for surveillance but if a suspect is found to be in an area where collateral damage can be kept to a minimum with few if any civilian casualties then the nod from senior trained officers to strike with a missile should be given. You have to break a few eggs to cook an ommelette and a few civilian casualties is a price worth paying to remove the filth from our streets.

Agreed. I don't doubt or argue against that at all. I'm simply saying that putting words in people's mouths doesn't garner support for the cause of liberty. Stating that this is a step toward our worst fears is a more accurate and supportable statement. Claiming that he's asking for law enforcement to use his product to kill Americans is just false, and makes anyone with any intelligence watching this video think you are a hysterical freak.

This is completely bogus. The guy is arguing for using the drones for surveillance only! I'm not saying I like that idea either, but lying and putting words in this guy's mouth isn't the way to get things done. Telling the truth works much better. The guy never once said that drones should be allowed to deliver lethal force, although he did reference the fact that our society gives such discretion to our police officers. Hardly the same thing at all...
