This is a unique clip I have posted a few years before. Warren Vache is here introduced by Peter Appleyard, both were members of the Benny Goodman Quintet in the seventies. In this recording Warren is only 26, but what a power, what a technique, what a phrasing. No wonder Benny wanted him in his quintet after Bobby Hackett had died.
About a year ago I had an email from Warren in which he stated: To be young again.
And yes already then he was the best mainstream player I can think off.
As for so many of us, his hero was as well: Ruby Braff!
