Starting from the Hammon-Whiting Amtrak station and the Horseshoe Casino on Lake Michigan, here is an evening ride on the new Northwest Indiana Regional Bus Authority's "EasyGo" Green Route. This route runs from 106th/Ewing in Chicago's far southeast side, via the casino to downtown Whiting and East Chicago, all the way to Schererville, via Indianapolis Blvd. Near the beginning of this video, note the bus driver going around the railroad crossing gates! The buses seen here are 30- and 35-foot Optima Opus buses. Along the Green Route, a 40-foot Gillig Advantage bus on Gary Public Transportation Corporation's Route 12, the Tri-City Connector, is passed, as well as another bus on the Green Route, this one an El Dorado National shuttle-type bus. At the end of this ride, I exit and transfer to a westbound South Shore Line train at the East Chicago station.
