I dont really know what the journalists point is...or many of the posters here. psychiatry cant cure mental illness as there is no cure. much like clinical genetics cannot cure downs syndrome and neurology cannot cure parkinsons or alzheimers. so to say psychiatry is a farce is much like saying we should abandon any assistance for those with genetic or neurological disorders or any other incurable illness for that matter. the purpose of psychiatry for now is to improve quality of life, not cure.

Psychiatry is far from perfect; but the CCHR are just vicariously living out L. Ron Hubbard's frustration upon having his book "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health" rejected as pseudo-science in the field of mental health.
