Biggest Possible Level Leap in Final Fantasy VII

For some reason, Jenova-SYNTHESIS is the enemy which grants you the highest amount of EXP in this game. The magic number is 60.000, higher than both Ruby Weapon (45k) and Emerald Weapon (50k).

The lowest leveled character you can have in the party at this point is, of course, the level 7 Tifa we all love. A level 2 EXP Plus Materia doubles the amount of EXP, so she receives 120.000 EXP and levels up no less than 30 times!

The jump from 16 to 37 on the EXP screen happens automatically. When you gain more than 10 levels and watch the EXP filling up, you will only see the EXP bar filling up 10 times before it skips the rest. Just watch the Debug Room Edition to see the same thing happening there. In other words, I didn't press any buttons. If you do that, you will be taken to the next screen immediately. As you can see here, it stayed on the EXP screen.

As far as I know, this is the second highest leap in the series, only beaten by FFIX, where any level 1 character who defeats a group of three Yans on his own gains a total of 38 levels.

Note: A bigger level leap is possible in the early Japanese version, where Yuffie can join the party on level 1. If you do this with her, she'll level up 35 times! You can see it here:

Since so many have asked; Cloud and Tifa's levels are that low because I kept them KO'd in all boss battles to prevent them from receiving EXP. They are indeed at their lowest possible levels at this point. If you don't think it's legit, you simply don't know everything about FFVII. Deal with it.

After beating the game, getting all ultimate weapons and limit breaks, maxing all the characters (except Aeris), breeding a gold choco, beating ruby and emerald, and just beating all the side quests: my life is now complete! NOW, I'm actually ready for a reamke so I can do it again!

Dude yea, there should have been a new game+ with tougher enemies and shit. There is no real reason to level your materia or anything in the normal game, it's just too easy
